Where to start? Honestly, Alex made our first trip to the Dominican Republic an unforgettable one! Yes, at first we tought that a private guide was expensive we are not going to lie about that. But having experienced a tour with a touroperator we saw the benefits of having a private guide. And Alex is even next level, with all his experience and knowledge of the Dominican Republic he knows and shows all the places where nobody else takes you! You will experience the real DR life. A warm personality, friendly and with a great sense of humor. There is not much that you can wish for in our opinion. And if we would advise anybody; go with Alex to Santa Domingo! We had a blast!

Gerne wieder!

Private Tours

Montaña Redonda, Miches & Beach

Montaña Redonda near Miches is one of the most famous viewpoints in the Dominican Republic. Even the drive up through the tropical landscape is an experience in itself. Once you reach the top, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of the coast, lagoons, palm groves, and the lush green landscape of Miches.

Montaña Redonda is particularly famous for its iconic swings, which extend far out over the mountainside. Swinging here gives you the feeling of floating right above the landscape—an extraordinary photo opportunity and a little adventure all at once.

Montaña Redonda is an excellent stop on a day trip, especially when combined with other attractions in the Miches region. If you want to explore the Dominican Republic beyond the typical resort areas, you shouldn’t miss this viewpoint.

Los Haitises – a landscape like one from another world

Los Haitises National Park is one of the most impressive natural landscapes in the Dominican Republic. Dense mangrove forests, numerous small islands, limestone cliffs, and hidden caves characterize this unique region on Samaná Bay.

Many areas of the national park are accessible only by water. A boat trip through the mangroves and among the distinctive rock formations offers a particularly vivid glimpse of this pristine landscape.

The caves of Los Haitises also contain numerous traces of Taíno culture. Rock paintings and petroglyphs serve as a reminder of the people who lived here long before the arrival of Europeans.

Los Haitises is no ordinary destination. It’s a combination of nature, history, and adventure—and that’s precisely why it’s one of the most interesting regions for travelers who want to experience the unspoiled side of the Dominican Republic.

Caño Hondo – Tropical Nature and Crystal-Clear Water

Caño Hondo is located near Los Haitises National Park and is an extraordinary destination for anyone seeking nature and tranquility. The area is characterized by lush tropical vegetation, small streams, and natural pools.

The natural pools, where you can cool off in the clear water, are particularly popular. The surroundings feel unspoiled and are quite different from the well-known beaches of the major resort areas.

Caño Hondo is a great place to combine with a visit to Los Haitises. After a boat tour through the mangroves and caves, you’ll have the chance to relax amid tropical nature and enjoy a swim in the fresh water.

A trip to Caño Hondo is ideal for visitors who want to do more than just see the sights—they want to experience the Dominican Republic’s nature firsthand.

Saona Island – A Picture-Perfect Caribbean

Saona Island is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the Dominican Republic—and for good reason. Long, white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and countless palm trees create the quintessential Caribbean setting that many visitors associate with the Dominican Republic.

The island is part of Cotubanamá National Park and remains largely untouched by human development. During a day trip, you can relax on idyllic beaches, swim in crystal-clear waters, or observe the underwater world during a stop to swim at a natural sandbar.

A speedboat or catamaran ride along the coast is particularly impressive. With a little luck, you might spot sea turtles or other marine life along the way.

Saona is ideal for a relaxing day in the Caribbean, yet it also offers enough nature experiences to make it much more than just a day at the beach.

Santo Domingo – History, Culture, and Caribbean Life

Santo Domingo is the oldest continuously inhabited European city in the Americas and also the capital of the Dominican Republic. Particularly impressive is the historic Zona Colonial, whose cobblestone streets and historic buildings tell the story of the city’s eventful history.

Among the most important sights are the Primada de América Cathedral, the Fortaleza Ozama fortress, Parque Colón, and Calle Las Damas. Nestled among the historic buildings are restaurants, small shops, cafés, and plazas where the capital’s modern life comes alive.

However, Santo Domingo is more than just an open-air museum. The city blends colonial history with the Caribbean way of life, music, cuisine, and the bustling daily life of a modern metropolis.

A trip to Santo Domingo is particularly well-suited for visitors who want to learn more about the country’s history and culture and are looking for a contrast to the classic beach resorts.

Possible destinations include, for example:

Barahona – The Untamed Side of the Dominican Republic

Barahona is located in the southwest of the Dominican Republic and is one of the regions that has so far been largely spared from international mass tourism. Here, the Caribbean coast, mountains, tropical forests, and unspoiled landscapes come together.

The region around Barahona is ideal for travelers who want to explore the country away from the well-known resort towns. Along the coast, secluded beaches, small fishing villages, and spectacular viewpoints alternate.

Highlights include excursions into the surrounding mountains, to natural springs, and to secluded beaches. The scenery along the coastal road is also among the most beautiful scenic routes in the Dominican Republic.

Barahona is less heavily commercialized than many tourist regions—and that is precisely what makes it so appealing. Those seeking unspoiled nature and authentic experiences will discover a completely different side of the Dominican Republic here.

The Dunes of Baní - a desert landscape on the Caribbean Sea

Few regions in the Dominican Republic offer such an unusual experience as the dunes of Baní. Nestled between the Caribbean Sea and the mountains lies an impressive sandy landscape that, at first glance, resembles a desert more than a tropical island.

The dunes reach considerable heights, and from their crests, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and the sea. The contrast between the golden sand, blue water, and green vegetation makes the region particularly photogenic.

A visit to the dunes can be perfectly combined with a trip to Baní and the surrounding coast. Those who have already seen many classic palm-fringed beaches will experience a completely different side of the Dominican Republic here.

Pedernales - an unspoiled paradise in the Southwest

Pedernales is located in the far southwest of the Dominican Republic and is one of the country’s most unspoiled regions. The area is characterized by arid landscapes, mountains, turquoise waters, and long, largely undeveloped beaches.

One of the region’s biggest attractions is Bahía de las Águilas. The kilometer-long beach is considered one of the most beautiful in the country and is particularly impressive for its natural surroundings and exceptionally clear water.

Cabo Rojo and the landscape of Jaragua National Park also make the region a special travel destination. There are no large hotel complexes here and no densely populated coastline—instead, visitors experience a landscape that has largely retained its original character.

Pedernales is particularly appealing to travelers who are willing to drive a little farther to discover one of the most spectacular and tranquil regions in the Caribbean.

Cayo Arena – a small island in the middle of the turquoise sea

Cayo Arena is a tiny sandy island off the northern coast of the Dominican Republic near Punta Rucia. There isn’t much space here—but all the more Caribbean charm.

The real highlight lies beneath the water’s surface. Surrounding the island are coral reefs and shallow waters teeming with tropical fish. That’s why Cayo Arena is one of the most popular destinations for snorkeling trips along the north coast.

The trip there is usually made by a small boat from Punta Rucia. Even the ride through the clear, turquoise water is part of the experience.

Cayo Arena is particularly well-suited for visitors who want to combine a hassle-free outing with a beach, a boat ride, and snorkeling.

Samaná – tropische Natur in ihrer schönsten Form

Barahona – The Untamed Side of the Dominican Republic

Barahona is located in the southwest of the Dominican Republic and is one of the regions that has so far been largely spared from international mass tourism. Here, the Caribbean coast, mountains, tropical forests, and unspoiled landscapes come together.

Cayo Arena is particularly well-suited for visitors who want to combine a hassle-free outing with a beach, a boat ride, and snorkeling.

Jarabacoa – The Mountains of the Dominican Republic

Jarabacoa is located in the heart of the Dominican mountains and is often referred to as the “City of Eternal Spring.” The climate here is significantly more pleasant and cooler than on the coast.

Green mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and pine forests define the landscape. Among the well-known natural attractions are the Salto de Jimenoa and Salto Baiguate waterfalls.

Jarabacoa is also a hub for outdoor activities. Rafting, canyoning, hiking, and horseback riding are among the most popular ways to actively explore the surrounding area.

Those who have known the Dominican Republic mainly as a beach destination will experience a completely different side of the country in Jarabacoa: green mountains, cool rivers, and a landscape more reminiscent of an alpine region than the Caribbean.

Constanza – The Highlands of the Dominican Republic

Constanza lies at an elevation of about 1,200 meters and is home to some of the most extraordinary landscapes in the Caribbean. The climate is significantly cooler than on the coast, and the surrounding mountains give the region an almost European character.

The fertile valleys are intensively farmed. Vegetables, strawberries, potatoes, and other produce are grown here and distributed to many parts of the country.

The area around Valle Nuevo is particularly impressive, with its highland landscapes, pine forests, and wide valleys. The region is one of the most important natural areas in the Dominican Republic.

Constanza is an ideal destination for anyone who wants to experience not only the beach and the sea during their stay, but also discover the extraordinary diversity of the Dominican landscape.

Samaná – tropical nature at its finest

The Samaná Peninsula is one of the most scenically diverse regions in the Dominican Republic. Dense tropical vegetation, mountains, waterfalls, secluded beaches, and small coves define the landscape.

Among the most famous attractions are the El Limón Waterfall, the beaches of Las Galeras, and Samaná Bay. During whale season, the region also becomes one of the most important whale-watching areas for humpback whales in the Caribbean.

Samaná is less touristy than Punta Cana and therefore offers numerous opportunities to experience the island’s nature and authentic way of life.

Whether it’s the beach, a waterfall, a boat ride, or nature watching—the peninsula offers extraordinary diversity and is ideal for individual day trips and longer exploration tours.

Puerto Plata – History and Nature on the North Coast

Puerto Plata combines colonial history with tropical nature and a stunning mountain backdrop. Towering over the city is the 800-meter-high Pico Isabel de Torres, which can be reached by cable car.

From the top, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of Puerto Plata and the Atlantic coast. In the city itself, the historic old town, the San Felipe Fortress, and the famous colorful houses of Callejón de Doña Blanca are among the interesting sights.

The area surrounding Puerto Plata also offers numerous opportunities for day trips. Waterfalls, beaches, nature parks, and historic plantations make the region diverse and varied.

Puerto Plata is thus an ideal destination for visitors who want to experience multiple facets of the Dominican Republic during a single trip.

Cabarete – Sports, the Beach, and the Caribbean Lifestyle

Cabarete is best known for water sports. Its location is on the north coast and the often strong trade winds make the town an international hub for kitesurfers and windsurfers.

However, the long sandy beach also offers an attractive setting for visitors who don’t want to get out on the water themselves. Along the coast, there are restaurants, bars, and small eateries that create a relaxed atmosphere, especially in the evening.

In addition to water sports, the surrounding area can also be explored by bike, on hikes, or on excursions to nearby nature reserves.

Cabarete is less geared toward traditional package tourism and, as a result, has a lively and international feel. For those looking to combine the beach, outdoor activities, and a laid-back atmosphere, this is one of the most interesting places on the north coast.
